Genk is looking for a new striker and has its eye on Rafiu Durosinmi from Pisa. The Nigerian would cost €10m, but the club might be able to afford it if they sell Kos Karetsas to Borussia Dortmund. Durosinmi is only 23 years old and has already scored 31 goals in 71 games for Viktoria Plzen. However, he has not been successful at Pisa, where he has only scored one goal in 12 games.
Why is Genk interested in Durosinmi?
Genk has always been successful with Nigerian strikers. Tolu Arokodare and Paul Onuachu have both scored many goals for the club. Durosinmi is, however, a costly acquisition, as he would cost €10m. That is a record fee for Genk, which previously paid €5m for Theo Bongonda.
What happens now?
Genk is currently in negotiations with Borussia Dortmund over the sale of Kos Karetsas. If the club can get €35m for the Greek teenager, that would be enough money to pay for Durosinmi. Durosinmi himself is interested in the move to Genk, as Pisa was relegated to Serie B.
What does this mean for Genk?
If Genk can afford Durosinmi, that would be a significant step for the club. Durosinmi is a potentially strong striker who could help Genk score more goals. But it is also a risk, as it would cost €10m and the club is not sure if Durosinmi will succeed at Genk.
