Ajax and PSG Reach Agreement for Mika Godts Transfer

Ajax and Paris Saint-Germain have reached a verbal agreement for the transfer of Mika Godts for a total package worth €55 million. The 21-year-old Belgian winger was originally signed by Ajax from KRC Genk for €1 million three years ago. The transfer is currently a verbal agreement. Ajax is actively working on exchanging the formal paperwork to finalize the deal.

Negotiation Process and Club's Perspective

Negotiations had been ongoing since late July. Ajax initially rejected an opening offer of €40 million plus and a subsequent improved bid of €45 million plus add-ons. Ajax had initially demanded €60 million, but ultimately compromised at €55 million following PSG's successful European Super Cup win over Aston Villa. The funds were used to reinvest in new wingers for manager Míchel, who said on Thursday that his team is not ready for the season without Godts.

Godts gave his full approval for the PSG project after holding direct structural talks with PSG sporting advisor Luis Campos. Personal terms are fully settled.

Godts will travel to Paris soon to undergo his medical and sign his official contract. He has already been withdrawn from participating in upcoming matches for Ajax.

Eredivisie Performance and Future

Godts had a standout Eredivisie campaign, scoring 17 goals and providing 12 assists. PSG manager Luis Enrique explicitly prioritized Godts for his 1v1 dribbling and multi-role versatility across the frontline. At €55 million, Godts cements his place as one of the most expensive departures in Ajax history, sitting just behind outlays for Antony, Frenkie de Jong, Matthijs de Ligt, and Lisandro Martínez.
