K.R.C. Genk reject €30m Dortmund bid for Karetsas
K.R.C. Genk have turned down a €30 million (£26m) offer from Borussia Dortmund for teenage sensation Konstantinos Karetsas. The 18-year-old attacking midfielder, who provided 11 league assists last season, remains in Limburg for now.
Why is Karetsas in such high demand?
The Greece international caught AC Milan’s eye during a Europa League clash with Braga in November 2025, delivering two assists in a 4-3 win. He ended the campaign with three goals and 18 assists across all competitions.
What does this mean for K.R.C. Genk?
Genk recently tied Karetsas to a new contract until June 2029 and value him closer to €40m. Despite interest from Europe’s elite, the club remain relaxed. Dimitri De Conde, Genk’s head of football, stated they are under no pressure to sell.
What’s next for AC Milan?
The Rossoneri are searching for a replacement for Rafael Leao, who is expected to leave. Karetsas is an option, but Milan must first offload players. Galatasaray have shown interest in Leao, though no deal has materialized yet.
