Genk's Confidence in Afriyie's Long-Term Potential

KRC Genk's Dimitri de Conde has expressed confidence in the long-term potential of Jerry Afriyie, a 19-year-old Ghanaian forward. Afriyie, who turns 20 in August, played for RAAL La Louviere on loan in the 2025/26 season, where he scored five goals and provided two assists in 34 appearances. Genk has acquired him for around €6 million.

The Environment for Afriyie's Development

De Conde has also praised the young player for his work ethic: 'Jerry is a player with an incredible amount of energy. Whatever he does, he gives 100%. That fits perfectly with the intensity we want to see at KRC Genk.'

Afriyie, who stands at 6'1", is regarded as a versatile attacker capable of playing on either wing, through the middle, or behind the striker. His pace, explosiveness, and ability to cause problems in one-on-one situations are key assets. He has also earned four caps for Ghana and scored on his debut. In 2025, he won the Odartey Lamptey Future Star award as Ghana's best young player and was also top scorer for the U20 national team.

Genk expects Afriyie to be an excellent addition to their current squad, both now and for the future, and hopes that he will be able to build on his progress in the club.
