Genk Welcomes Jerry Afriyie

KRC Genk has signed 19-year-old Ghanaian forward Jerry Afriyie from Al-Qadsiah in Saudi Arabia. Afriyie, who began his career at Al-Qadsiah in January 2025, has signed a five-year contract with Genk, committing him to the club until 2031.

Praise for His Energy

Genk’s football chief Dimitri de Conde is enthusiastic about Afriyie’s energy and intensity. 'Jerry is a player with an incredible amount of energy,' said de Conde. 'Whatever he does, he gives 100%. That fits perfectly with the intensity we want to see at KRC Genk.'

Afriyie, who can play on either wing and also in the midfield or behind the striker, offers Genk additional options in attack. He spent last season on loan at La Louviere, where he scored five goals and provided one assist.

Afriyie’s Career

The Ghanaian played his youth football at Thoughts FC before joining Al-Qadsiah in January 2025. He was named Ghana’s best young player in 2025 after winning the Odartey Lamptey Future Star Award and made his senior national team debut earlier this year.

Genk hopes that Afriyie’s energy, versatility, and direct style can make an immediate impact as he begins a new chapter in Belgium.
