K.R.C. Genk aims to become the best team in Belgium. That's a warning for Club Brugge & co. Peter Croonen exchanges the role of chairman for the job of CEO. Together with Dimitri De Condé, Thibaut Courtois and others, he wants to park K.R.C. Genk in the top 50 of Europe. "Dimitri De Condé is not only good at recognizing talent, but also at negotiating around the value of that talent", says Peter Croonen. "That's a rare combination and on top of that, someone with those qualities also has the real DNA of Genk. We've been working together for a long time and we've shared the ambition to make Genk the best club in Belgium. A club in the top 50 of Europe and that's a project we can now continue with Thibaut Courtois." Rode Duivel Thibaut Courtois invests with his NXTPLAY in his former club K.R.C. Genk. That also includes a praise for the current sports director Dimitri De Condé. "I won't take on a role in K.R.C. Genk. I think what the club is doing with Dimi is working well and should continue to work that way. That's not where we want to get in the way." "It's not up to me to make transfer decisions", Courtois said. "It's natural to want to keep someone like Dimi at the club for longer. He works well with the young talents who are flowing through. He makes the right choices with the transfers: who can go, who should stay. Which young talents can we find abroad to develop at Genk? We want to achieve success with them and then sell them to a club from one of the five big competitions." Thibaut Courtois also invested with NXTPLay in the French Le Mans and the Spanish Extremadura.
