Genk eyes US talent

Genk continues to search for young players with growth potential. The club has taken 15-year-old US-Greek winger Christopher Fitanidis on trial. Fitanidis has already made an official debut in the USL League Two and is selected for the US national team under 15.

Why is Fitanidis interesting for Genk?

Fitanidis is considered one of the great talents of his generation in the United States. He has a clear bond with Greece and can in the future not only play for the United States, but also for Greek national youth teams.

What is the challenge for Genk?

The challenge for Genk is not to quickly complete a transfer, but to work out a trajectory that fits within the rules. The club has already been able to see Fitanidis up close and wants to convince him on a longer term of a future in Limburg.

What's next?

The coming weeks will determine how concrete that option becomes. Fitanidis has already caught the eye, but must still wait for an international transfer to become possible at all.
