K.R.C. Genk has bolstered its right flank on the final day of the summer transfer window with the signing of Milan Roganović. The 20-year-old Montenegrin defender joins from Partizan Belgrade, as reported on Thursday by Sporza Voetbal.
Roganović's transfer was one of the last moves on a busy Deadline Day for the Jupiler Pro League. The window closed at 23:59 on Thursday. Genk, currently seventh in the league with seven points from four games, strengthens its squad for the months ahead. The club has scored twelve goals and conceded eight, giving them a +4 goal difference.
Who is Genk's new right-back?
Milan Roganović is a 20-year-old defender who began his career at Partizan Belgrade. He now signs a contract with K.R.C. Genk. The player himself was enthusiastic about the move. "I am very proud to sign for KRC Genk," Roganović said. "It is incredible which great players have played here. I am motivated to add my name to that list."
His arrival should broaden the defensive options for manager Wouter Vrancken. Genk currently trails league leaders Charleroi by five points in the title race, so any reinforcement could help close the gap. Fans can follow the full squad on our squad page.
What else happened on Deadline Day?
Aside from Roganović's move to Genk, there was more activity in Belgium on the final day. Arthur Vermeeren, on loan from RB Leipzig, underwent a medical at Antwerp for a potential loan return. Cercle Brugge loaned goalkeeper Yann Lienard (23) from AS Monaco for one season.
STVV signed Congolese international Nathanaël Mbuku (24) on loan from Augsburg with an option to buy. Anderlecht was also active, loaning Norwegian attacking midfielder Thelo Aasgaard from Rangers and Irish defender Andrew Omobamidele (24) from Strasbourg, both until the end of the season with purchase options. The Brussels club was still seeking a midfielder and a defender.
What does this mean for Genk's position?
The acquisition of Roganović gives Genk more depth in a key position. The club is currently experiencing mixed results with a recent form of WDWL. Adding a young, talented defender provides new possibilities for the remainder of the season. The current league table is on our standings page.
The immediate focus now shifts back to the league. The next fixture is a home match against OH Leuven, scheduled for December 12, 2026. Leuven is currently seventeenth in the table. All upcoming matches are in our fixtures calendar. Roganović signed a multi-season contract with the Limburg club.
