K.R.C. Genk is on the verge of another outgoing transfer. Yaimar Medina, the 21-year-old left-back, has caught the eye of several top European clubs. The Limburgers hope to secure a transfer fee between ten and twelve million euros for the player, whom they acquired for five million euros a year and a half ago.
What is the interest in Medina?
The interest in Medina grew after his performance with Ecuador at the World Cup. Transfer journalist Ekrem Konur reports that Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain, Ajax, Napoli, and Newcastle United are tracking the player. This is not isolated interest but comes from various major leagues.
Why is this important for K.R.C. Genk?
Genk has already received over 30 million euros from the sale of Kos Karetsas to Borussia Dortmund. A transfer of Medina could further boost the transfer window. The club is eyeing a significant profit, considering the five million euros they paid for the left-back.
What comes next?
Despite the interest, a concrete departure is not yet on the cards. The upcoming moves regarding Medina could, however, be decisive for the further course of Genk's transfer market. Sporting CP was mentioned as a possible destination, but the Portuguese newspaper Record disputes that.
